reference, I am able to report that a new Domestic Science Mistress, with qualifications in cooking, laundry, housewifery, dietetics and needlework, has
already been recruited, and that domestic science
will be included in the curriculum of the new
Teachers' Training Centre as soon as suitable
accommodation is available.
4.
In September of this year classes for teachers will also be opened in arts and crafts.
The instructors will be qualified members of the Education Department and the classes will be held in
conjunction with the Evening Institute. The
selection and appointment of a European master qualified in educational handwork was requested in my despatch No.796 of 29th October, 1938.
5. With regard to the teaching of music, in which connection I would refer to your despatch No.380 of 4th November, 1938, it is the opinion of
the Director of Education that a detailed syllabus and organization of this subject is, in view of the lack of expert musical knowledge at his disposal, not possible at present and will probably have to await the appointment of a qualified music master.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient, humble servant,
J. A.V. hother to

Governor.
